What to expect from the Solar Eclipse

On the 2nd October there will be a solar eclipse. As discussed in my previous blog post, eclipses come in pairs and this one follows on from the lunar eclipse of the 18th September. Think back to that week - what came up for you? You may see more of the same themes during this eclipse too.

This time around the Moon will be between the Earth and the Sun causing a shadow to fall across the Sun and "eclipsing out" the light. Where the lunar eclipse brings "endings" the solar eclipse brings "beginnings".

Eclipses involve the luminary planets - Sun and Moon- and so can shine light onto things for us, bringing things into focus. They can bring sudden news, shocks and surprises, expect the unexpected, but mainly they are here to shake us loose of where we have got stuck and propel us onto the right path.

A solar eclipse is masculine energy and as the Sun rules the sign of Leo, this sign usually feels it the most, just as Cancerian's feel lunar eclipses more. This eclipse will take place in the sign of Libra, with it's opposite sign of Aries axis. Libra represents "the other" and Aries "the self" so we may experience themes of relationships and the push-pull dynamics within them. To add extra tension to this eclipse it will also be in dynamic play with Mars - the God of war. If you follow astrology you may already be aware that Mars entered the sign of Cancer recently and does not sit comfortably there. Mars wants action and assertiveness whereas Cancer is emotional and sensitive and wants to retreat into it's shell for protection. Where Mars wants direct forward action, Cancer likes to side step. Of course every person's chart is individual to them and so some of you may feel this more than others. However we are a collective, so think of the butterfly effect. We are interacting with others and what affects "the other" may also have an impact on the individual.

Mercury is also conjunct to the eclipse supporting us to have transformative conversations, negotiations or decisions particularly when it comes to relationships. With the Sun, Moon and Mercury all in the sign of Libra fairness, justice, harmony and balance within relationships will be sought out. Mercury may help us to see things from a different perspective.

Whatever comes from this eclipse we can expect it to last several months. Eclipses are a shift in energy and have a lasting influence on us.
